Yankelovich's Definition

The team which developed InterMedia have published extensively. In "Intermedia: The Concept and the Construction of a Seamless Information Environment," they defined hypertext this way:

[A] hypertext system allows authors or groups of authors to link information together, create paths through a body of related material, annotate existing texts, and create notes that direct readers to either bibliographic data or the body of the referenced text. (Yankelovich et al. 81)
