The WELL (Whole Earth 'Lectronic Link) is a computer conferencing system based in Sausalito California. Some of its 200 conferences are: the ACEN, Poetry, Science Fiction, WELL Writer's Workshop, Words, Writers, and Zines/Factsheet Five. The WELL was founded by Stewart Brand and Larry Brilliant who describe the interactive flow of ideas over the network as "[t]he kind of thing coffee shops were supposed to be about."
