in one place a process was at work that suggested a means of
depositing copper upon a plumbago surface.
I wrote upon the card shown in Fig 2 with a soft lead pencil.
Then immersed the card in a saturated
solution of sulphate of copper and sprinkled some iron-filings upon
it. Copper was deposited
upon the plumbago surface as shown in Fig 2.
I tested the conducting surface to see whether a Morse
sounder could be worked through it upon Stanley's plan. I find it
can.
Experiments were made with Prof. Horsford this evening but we
failed to have copper deposited so successfully as in the above.
