    An armature a of steel or soft iron placed upon M'. Sound audible from a .(Fig 4).

    No sound audible from M'


  4. Some water W was placed in a dish. Conducting wire (C) was placed in the water. The vibrating tuning-fork f was held so that one leg vibrated in the water near the wire (C).
    A faint sound audible from M'.
