Smoke multiplies itself, not only expanding through the air, but also by increasing the number of its invisible but obscuring particles. Hive-maker, who has been here at our side all this time, interrupts with a thought (is our attention his diary? Who will read what he writes within us?). There is a secret, non-chemical source to this unnatural fog. Hive-Maker wonders if it is the actual atmosphere of the Planet on the which the future dead live. He believes that when a portal opens between worlds (one is always open, though not so wide as to cause this phenomena), then the methane mist swirls in, as creatures in cloaks crowd through, to walk for a moment on vacation, seeing the sights now invisible and poisonous to us because of their obscuring atmosphere. Of course, this air is clear and clean to these noxious visitors (who however are related to us... if not directly, they are at least the friends of friends of forgotten acquaintances).
