BB.   Wove paper. No watermark. Engraved with co-ordinate lines in red ink, every tenth line emphasized. These main divisions are slightly less than the English inch, by an amount varying from 3/16" to 3/8" less in the total length of the plate, about twelve and a half inches. This shortage conforms to what might be expected from the shrinkage of the paper after impression, so that the divisions were doubtless intended for English inches and tenths.

BC.   Wove paper. No watermark. Embossed with co-ordinate lines spaced ten to the English inch.

BD.   Laid paper. Watermarks: (I) I H S in a circle. (II, upside down in relation to I) Moyen de J Berger. Engraved with fine co-ordinate lines in brown ink, every tenth line emphasized. English inches and tenths, less shrinkage.

BE.   Laid paper. Watermark: VAN DER LEY.

BF.   Laid paper. Watermarks: (Left) S & C. (Right) Posthorn, with bell at right, in ornate shield. Coronet above, L V G below.

BH.   Laid paper. Watermarks: (Left) D. & C. BLAUW. (Right) Lion rampant gardant on a book (?) with the inscription URYHEYT. In the dexter paw a sheaf of arrows, in the sinister paw a cresset (?). The whole within a ribbon bearing the motto “PRO PATRIA EIUSQUE LIBERTATE,” and surmounted by an imperial crown. Below, B.
