Richmond - town layout (plan)



Description: Plan for extending the town, the central portion of which conforms to this layout today. The plan was drawn on two sheets of paper; the additional sheet is approx. half the size of the main sheet and is attached using six drops of sealing(?) wax to the left of the main sheet (1/2" overlap at the seam). Scale: 250'=1".

Condition: Linen backed; vertical crease at center of main sheet due to fold; minor losses at upper left corner & at top of crease, major losses at lower left corner & along bottom edge at center of main sheet -- patched with Fabriano paper (20th c.); crease & seam dirty; tears at upper left edge & along bottom edge; wax stain spots along seam & right edge (due to contact with seam when folded at crease); discoloration at lower right corner, in area around lower third of seam, and along left bottom edge
