Forest Interior species, existing and proposed

It is not enough to analyze bird habitat or species richness according to land type. To do so would neglect two critical factors:

• pattern and adjacency relationships

• bird habitat types
      forest interior
      old field
      generalist (suburban)

The land cover was first typed according to bird species habitats. An assumed development pattern was developed. And a scripting sequence was designed based on literture research. The scripting sequence evaluates habitat quality according to land use adjacencies, size of continguous land type, and land use proximities. The resultant model predicts habitat type and size and ranks each cell from least to most valuable for each of the three categories.
