The challenge of this speculative office/hotel conference development was to preserve the landscape sensibility of this historic and culturally significant garrigue landscape of agricultural fields and former olive groves. This was accomplished through three main strategies: • maintaining large areas of garrigue preserves between development sites • integrating olive groves within parking areas • working with the topography in locating office clusters in a way that preserves the spatial sensibility of open and filled syncopation of the landscape.
