The client wanted a garden with a pool and a fountain. She
acted as contractor for the garden’s construction.
Being in Houston, the garden needed quick shade. The design’s central
feature is a runnel and small pool framed by a steel pergola. The shade
structure is planted with vines and is an armature for large hanging baskets.
A similar steel screen provides an edge to the garden and shields garden
inhabitants’ views of the home’s cars. When the ornamental trees
and shrubs mature, the design will make a hot, empty yard into a bright
yet cool garden oasis. |
