Homestead Legislation for West Virginia Post-Mining Sites. 2000. Team
Member of working group including attorneys, mining engineers, civil engineer,
planner, biologist, soils scientist, and landscape architect.
Responsibilities: Part of team assembled to write legislation for Homesteading
on land previously mined for coal. The team's recommendations included
homesteader requirements, municipal infrastructure, natural systems reconstruction,park
and open space requirements and configuration, forestry requirements,
lot configuration, materials, and plan submittal requirements.

Responsibilities: design of garden; installation of paving and planting.
Collaboration with John Easterling on design of pavilion that doubles

Redevelopment Plan for Cap Haitien, Haiti. 1998. Team Member.
Part of multidisciplinary design team sponsored by the Organization for
American States. Responsibilities: develop a strategic plan for revitalizing
the town through the development of a tourism plan. My specific role (as
I defined it) was to develop a park infrastructure that provided the armature
for two things: 1) a sewage and storm drainage plan; and 2) a processional
sequence for a series of tours through the historic town.

Carlson-Abbey Residence. Houston, Texas.1992. Designer.
Responsibilities: Design and construction documents for suburban garden
that challenged traditional norms by placing the vegetable garden in the
front of the house. The garden is about patience and small victories.
It had to be inexpensive and simple enough for the owners to install it
themselves.
Morian Residence. Houston, Texas.1992. Designer.
Responsibilities: Design and construction drawings for residential garden
whose primary focus is a water garden. It is a garden for both singular
solitude and social gathering. The garden is formed by a pavilion, fountain
and planted runnel which provide a backbone to the space, a necessity
given the owner's love of plant experimentation and variety.

Responsibilities: As part of a single-family residential development,
our work includes development of the open space plan, master plan and
detail design of the community center park. Our most important task is
to reconfigure/redesign a major drainage corridor into an environmentally-positive
structure, which necessitates the change of obsolete laws and engineering
practices. Work includes construction drawings and construction observation.Kathy

Houston Country Club Tennis Complex Master Plan. Houston, Texas. 1992.

Responsibilities: Develop master plan that included recommendations for
the pedestrian entry at the parking, configuration of pedestrian pavements
adjacent to the tennis pro shop, proposed rest areas and patios, interface
with pool fencing, and screening of pool equipment and service area. Accompanying
the plan is a schematic design of areas, a phasing plan, and a preliminary
