The design allows the park's past to resonate in park users' contemporary
experience--and for Boston former sensibility to mingle with its present
aesthetic.
The design also allows Boston to imagine
expanded possibilities for its efforts to restore the Fens. In this design
a past landscape is not literally restored but its landscape type is reconstructed.
And its presence allows other histories--the Rose Garden, the MFA, and
the Stadium--to acquire new associations and meanings that make the experience
of the landscape richer.
