Fluid
when discussing sexuality, i prefer the word "preference" over
"orientation". although the latter term is the one preferred by many in the
gay-rights movement, i believe it implies a false sense of
rigidity and permanence that only reinforces the "straight" world's
delusional sense of itself as completely removed from the gay one.
every survey of sexual practices since kinsey has found that
the vast majority of people at some point in their lives experience
sexual intimacy with someone of the same sex.* therefore, as freud so
succinctly put it, we are all bisexual. the current binaristic
understanding of sexuality (which has admittedly served the political
needs of the gay community well) will ultimately stymie the very same
movement. we will never have gay liberation until the dominant culture
liberates its own sexuality.
