The pressure sensitive alarm device, which our group intends to patent, has several benefits that arise from its simple workings. Its primary objective is to act as an alarm, announcing the excessive time lapse that may occur via improper shutting of the door to a refrigerated area, or via a delay in shutting the door to the above mentioned refrigerated area. In reading the following environmental benefits it is to be kept in mind that though one refrigerator on its own makes little impact on the environment, there are currently 125 million refrigerators in the United States. Benefits gleaned from using one such alarm device, when multiplied by the number of refrigerators in use, leads to significant benefits and creates a massive impact on the environment. The, the environmental benefits that arise from such a device are: 1) less energy consumption, 2) improved refrigerator/freezer life, and 3) decrease in food spoilage.
