Richard Gess is the author of the hypertext poem Mahasukha Halo. He was guest editor of the special hypertext issue of Perforations. He lives in Atlanta and works at Emory University. Gess became involved in hypertext immediately after acquiring his first computer in 1989. He was a test user of Storyspace from 1990 until its commercial release in 1991.
Gess has been publishing fiction, essays, reviews and poetry since 1971. He is currently working on a Storyspace hyperbook titled Cathy Clair, A Book in Pieces.
