	Back to Jacob typing at the terminal. Finger-thinking, toe-twitching rhythm; like the President of the United Federation of America, Jacob can't stop tapping his toes, his feet, even when going to sleep. Sometimes his entire knee shakes, and his teeth clatter, the desk moves... then a finger slips, and he types I rather than U, wrong letter right next to I on the keyboard, and then he has to calm down and do the spelling correction.

His Memory Returns:

At Frisch, Jacob is a programmer writing code for gunsite displays in the simulators. The next day, twiddling code, Jacob feels an explosion in his brain, and remembers a previous experience of disapearance at the hives, which seemed to have occured after hearing voices within the comb. He is so disturbed by the memory that he leaves work, heading home to spend the afternoon watching tv. Inevitably, though, Jacob ends up at his hives.
