So I went home early, leaving Melissa at work.

The edges of the frame, and the darkness beyond it, show coarse living pixels only seem to be alive and real when we are close to them. The white box now surrounds the tv. Jacob falls back onto the sofa with a newspaper in his hand. On the newspaper... news of the day, in Esperanto.

His Memory Returns:

At Frisch, Jacob is a programmer writing code for gunsite displays in the simulators. The next day, twiddling code, Jacob feels an explosion in his brain, and remembers a previous experience of disapearance at the hives, which seemed to have occured after hearing voices within the comb. He is so disturbed by the memory that he leaves work, heading home to spend the afternoon watching tv. Inevitably, though, Jacob ends up at his hives.
