A Pause:
Jacob doesn't go home that night, prefering to vacation at a hotel. In the morning, he visits scientist friends at the National Solar Observatory, where he broods before heading home to his hives.
Melissa is aware that something is very wrong with Jacob, but keeps a distance, watching through the window as Jacob heads to his hives for the last time. She doesn't know that Jacob's intention is to travel back through the Hives to the peace of his grandfather's Garden of Eden home.
The bees don't grant Jacob his request to go back to his grandfather's sculpture orchard, but instead seem to plant a opaque and mirrored crystal inside him, which he blithely describes as television, as indeed it might be known among the bees if we could see through their eyes. On the television, he directly watches a film of his grandfather's past.
