One stops and stands in front of us, changing visage with a machine-speed cycle, showing eyes-nose-mouth and wrinkled brow of multiple mummies kept and seen at the British Museum. This sort of Egyptological hocus-pocus is just what you might expect from a turn of the century ghost trying to impress you with a bit of erudition, letting you know that it too has been to the Museum and been appropriately improved by the visit. Fortunately, neither of you has much time for this sort of showing off... its all done quickly, and you're both on your way... you'll never have to see one another again. |
