The detail on which I focused was one particular convergence point along
the Fens. I investigated the road in front of the Museum of Fine Arts, the
Fenway and discovered that originally its alignment was much more curvilinear
than it is today. Part of its alignment was based on an open canal that
stretched from Huntington Avenue to the Fens. In the design, this canal
is opened and the street is realigned to be similar to its original form,
this will slow traffic thus facilitating the convergence of pedestrian traffic,
cars, and bikes. This form of this convergence of experiences becomes a
vortex, harnessing movement, that grows, changes, and skews according to
how and from where people move through it. |
