Hara Wilkiemeyer • Detailing

This detail shows a reconfigured fire garden within the city. Fire hydrants connected to the storm water system are reformed and occupy a place within a sunken garden. This garden is planted with wetland grasses and links storm drains and fire outlets. Storm water gutters are also planted with wetland grasses to begin the cleaning process as water runs off the streets.During summer months the hydrants are periodically flushed, this flushing becomes a civic event throughout the city and allows people to play in the spray of the water while witnessing the cycle of civic water.
