s it flows to the north from the Fens, the Muddy River is combined with
urban systems in ways that diminish its intrinsic qualities and inherent
potential. It is constricted through a labyrinth of roads, overpasses
and bridges in the Charlesgate area until it disappears below Storrow
Drive before it connects to the Charles River.
My project seeks to imrpove this situation--and to make a new entry to
the city. Specifically,
it seeks to strengthen the relationship between the Muddy River and the
Charles as a means of establishing a provocative and enduring urban infrastructure.
