Leigh Fitts • Detailing

Weirs ar a necessary component for diverting, dewatering, and dredging segments of the Fens. Weirs could be designed to in a way that pieces of the weir remain after the construction/dredging has been completed. Walkways across the top of the weirs used during construction to cross the dredging site could remain as bridges. The weirs should be constructed of industrial materials, so that it is evident that it is an element that has been imposed on the landscape.

It should also reference the process of dredging and reference the passage of time. Other elements of the dredging process, such as staging areas for construction could remain taking on new functions. Another important product of the dredging process is the dirt itself. This dirt can be used to create new forms or to enhance existing spaces.
