While in Boston, I documented various shelters/spaces that can be categorized
into three different types. First, there is the "found" shelter. These are
the natural shelters that already exist within the landscape, such as the
wide low canopy of a tree. Next, there are constructed shelters such as
the H.H. Richardson shelter. Finally, there are shelters/spaces that are
hybrids of the previous two types of spaces. This is the constructed shelter
made of found material, such as the branch and vine structures found within
the Victory Gardens. Through this photographic documentation, I have realized
the potential for my project to generate a fourth series of spaces. Perhaps
these spaces will be hybrids of the first two types as well. However, these
will be found spaces made with constructed materials.
