On the urban scale, my project helps
Bostonians understand how the city "works." It demonstrates
dynamically how flood control is necessary and how, as an engineering
works, it is accomplished.
On a smaller scale, the design allows
for new ways of entering the park and crossing the Fens, so that new connections
are established into, across, and through the Fens. I am also providing
new spaces within the park and new ways of occupying and using these spaces
within the park. Designed dredging also allows people within the city
to understand the importance of the Fens as a changing/shifting piece
of Boston's infrastructure.
