Three designers chose to focus on visible manifestations of stormwater,
resulting in a palette of street and park inlets, outfalls, and access points
(monitors, manholes).As Adriane Fowler
says, "It is striking how much water runs beneath the city, and how
little access or understanding we are permitted as we move across the surface
of the street." Ann O'Hara Wilkiemeyer
noted how the manifestations are"only reminders are mere symbols and
do not help people understand how the vital systems of the city work."
Ah-Yeon Kim also looked for water, including
stormwater but also potable water and nonhuman created water of rivers and
harbors.
