their initial mapping exercise, the designers explored many media with great
originality. In their mapping, they gave themselves not only understandings
but also gave themselves sites upon which to build their designs. They help
us all see Boston anew, enabling us to imagine a Fens that is more wonderful

This portion of the site gives an overview of the work of the Mapping exercise. It characterizes the designers' explorations according to three themes: Mapping the Structure of the City Mapping the City's Water Mapping History All of the mappings are about much more than a singular category or subject yet reside primarily within one of the themes. |
