Four students' mappings of the city's infrastructure looked at not only
their functions but also the potential relationships between them for making
spaces. Dana Hogstedt explored the process
that created the Back Bay and the Fenway areas that occurred through the
filling of the former Great Bay and the relevance of this on the present
day Fens. Jerald Sparkman mapped the city's
infrastructure to understand the relationships between the seen and unseen
systems of the Fens and adjacent areas. Rui-Ling
Zhang layered the different systems of the city to find the dynamic
relationship between each other within one system. As a Boston native, Gigi
Saltonstall's mapping of the infrastructure was a very personal one,
denoting three routes around and through the Back Bay Fens.
