Leigh Fitts

It has been planned for the Fens to be dredged from Gatehouse 1 to Ipswich Street. My project is based on this dredging. I have started with a basic engineering plan as a point of departure. Then I have modified and adapted this basic plan in order to design the dredging process so that dredging becomes more than an unwelcome imposed act of engineering. Dredging is incorporated as part of the design for the future park. The process of dredging and its products become a new layer within the multi-layered history of the Fens. My project allows the act of dredging to be seen as the construction process for the future park.
